"The VHF packet node is up and operational on Sandia Crest. It is on 145.010, and is called "SCREST". It sees Capila,
Buck and SVH (Santa Fe). As time goes on, it may see more distant
nodes. One may connect to it or digi thru it. It should greatly extend
coverage in the Middle Rio Grande area. Thanks to Paul Choc for donating
spare parts and shack space on the Crest for the gadget.
Y'all give it a try so we can determine its usefulness and/or stability
as the temp drops up there.
Gary "
The "PAJARI" packet node is also operational. It is located on Pajarito peak. Please try it out.
Classes / Meeting notes:
Meeting night: Were going to talk about TOPO map reading. Bring your compass to the meeting.
Our next CERT training class will be held on Saturdays in January 2010; we conduct a lesson 9 AM-noon, break for lunch, then have a lesson from 1-4 PM. Class starts January 9 and continues on the 16th, 23rd and 30th. Come participate in the best personal preparedness training program that exists - and we give you about $75 worth of "free stuff" when you complete the entire class. To date we have graduated 357 people from our local CERT program.
Word of mouth remains our best advertising - as a result we already have 14 people registered to attend this Saturday session and 7 already registered for the Tuesday evening class that starts on March 2, 2010! Classes are limited to 25 people. Come join us and learn to be prepared, not scared!
Preregistration is required. City employees get safety training credit for attending even though you do the program on your own time.
